Inhibitors and the power of sleep

I didn't work today and called in due to the weather and me being under it with a common cold. not so common for me because i rarely get ill. but hey its a new year.

in the latest skin news i came across some great information in the Allure magazine December issue 2009. they feature the latest trends in ingredients and break them down due to their claims, the products that offer them and the science behind them. the growing Acai berry which if you frequent LA then you had it plenty. its like the new Green tea of the decade in my eyes. now you can find them in your parfaits and smoothies and even lotions that you buy for your body. Acai berry is a powerful antioxidant that protects from free radicals that start to break down elastin and collagen, resulting in the slowing of premature aging of the skin.

the most interesting was the section in regards to Genomic technology. its technology that identifies which genes are responsible for certain proteins that your own body produces to reverse sun damage and prevent. essentially more of these proteins that are activated the time travel process occurs to your skin. why i found this so intriguing is that everyone has sen the Olay commercials and no one knows what exactly is that makes it so special. and this was the answer finally! the mapping of the human genome is hugely exciting, but that just tells us where genes are located on DNA strands. the next step is figuring out what they do and how to manipulate them. we are still in the beginning stages of this of this technology but derms all agree this is the future of skin care.

now for my personal testimony, Melatonin. a hormone that regulates sleep cycles, is also an antioxidant and allegedly a collagen booster. when combined with other antioxidants, melatonin has a synergistic effect, helping them penetrate the skin better. so if your skin were a football field, melatonin would be a massive lineman clearing a path for a wiry running back. (that was for the boys) crucial to the skin's structure, it could help skin look firmer and smoother. Dr. Murad has a great product with topical melatonin that i put to the test. it made my lines look more relaxed in as little as 7 days. the Sleep reform serum helped me and i know it could work wonder with other who just are not happy with deeper lines on the forehead in conjuction with their intense wrinkle serum that smoothies the skin into perfection. pricey products but they work in my opinion. a great alternative for those who cant spend 400 on botox every three months. you end up spending half the amount and save time from visiting the Spa for pain, might as well enjoy the facility and get a facial and pamper yourself.

speaking of pampering, i am with a glass of wine. filled with polyphenols that help with cariovascular health and cell defense. time now to get some z's in this gloomy weather and hope the melatonin kicks in with the antioxidants and betters my skin. dont try this at home as a antiaging regimen but its nice to relax. just trying to put the you back in beauty.

New Year New You New Husband New Everything you want it to be.

The year kicks off to a grand hooray and celebration for an improved person.

There are those like me who needed to get out of the holiday game and gear up for whats good and savory (Spring and Summer fun). We now have to find out whats important to our individual. We don't reach for perfection but improvement. I'd like to stress this motto to all this year so we don't disappoint but move through out this year with grace and finish it with success.

this month there is a wide and strong push for the Skin care world that we all live in weather we believe it or not. its all around us, every where you step and magazine page you turn. we even change our daily lifestyles for our skin care and what we want to spend our hard earned income on. So you use Neutrogena and Clean and Clear, that's fine but you look the part. Some will save tips and save money well earned and spend it on facials, creams and services and that shows as well. this is where i fit in to your picture/art. weather it may be a Picasso, O'Keefe or a Monet you have to stand behind your own work and take ownership and love it, because no one has too but you.

so lets move to ask the Prince.....

Q.What is the appropriate regimen for my skin?

A. The daily regimen is Cleanse, Tone, Serum and Moisturize. Many of the products are used day and night, however, your individual skin concerns may dictate some differences in the AM and PM routine. A regimen is suggested after you have had a consultation with a Skincare Specialist who can determine the perfect system for your skin type and conditions. We (the Royal we) recommend the daily use of an SPF.

And for my Beverly Hills People!!!

Q. I am afraid of having a surgical procedure but there is a BIG reunion in a few months and I want to look fantastic at the event. Is there anything that can perform a small miracle on my skin?

A. How does this sound? Up to a 45% reduction in the appearance of wrinkles! Smoother, more even skin tone, an increased glow, and the benefits of resetting your skin's "aging clock" by five years or more. we cant change out hormonal clock but our faces ! who knew?! All in a months time with the nightly use of Peau Magnifique Youth Recruit. The results are indelible and life changing. RéVive has pushed the envelope further from scalpel to test tube and Peau Magnifique will have your friends remarking on your skin.

(to look for ReVive skin care visit

so do WE need to go under the knife ? not necessarily , but I'm not against it. there is so much that potions and creams can do and you have to start young not later to correct what took years to create. preservation is best. take it from the Egyptians and the most beautiful woman on earth Cleopatra, she didn't wait. She started young because they knew and because they were royalty in her family. you are all kings and queens of your castle and should think of your genes and person as part of a beautiful monarchy.

Rome wasn't built in a Day and neither were those smile lines we all have. it took a lot of happy new year's celebrations. we still have over 350 days left in 2010. what is it that we are going to invest our fortunes in this year? lets start with finding, if you haven't just yet The YOU in Beauty.

calm and collected

call me old fashioned but don't you dare call me old.

there is something to say for those who value patience, calmness, prudence, and being authentic. in the words of Wendy Williams and joey from friends " how you doin?"

when i consult with my clients and searching for then the products that suit them the best i just need them to be real. i am real and it comes clear what i do, i do it for you.

you never see the diva side of me unless i let you in and then you just better take it and like it and theres no excuses.

so recently i acquired a Lil boo boo on my face. as much as i want to run and hide from the world i know that it will go away and i just need to be calm patient and be wise of what i am going to do and use on my skin while it heals. so thus brings me to the lesson of the day: Be Soothed so you can be smoothed. i woke up washed my face and applied this fantastic NEW African Red Tea mask for ten minutes. it was so calming and made the texture of my skin nice and gentle to the touch. keep in mind i have a wound and it never irritated it, it calmed and de-flammed its redness. this is why i went with this product, first African Red tea is so rich in antioxidants and great for the skins immunity. wham!

these are the ingredients:

  • African red tea - powerful antioxidant strengthens the skins immune mantle, slows the aging process, calming and soothing to the skin.

  • algae extract - nourishing natural extract with skin tightening properties

  • borage oil & linseed oil - natural source of EFA’s (essential fatty acids); EFA’s are required for the skin to repair itself

  • citrus essential oils - astringent, antiseptic, aromatic, purifying & brightening

  • pomegranate extract - antioxidant; fights against free radical damage

  • Sodium Hyaluronate - A powerful humectant which binds moisture to the skin.

No need to worry because baby its going to be alright. just be wise and take the time to enjoy the view. i encourage everyone to give this a shot. hug yourself if no one will because your the one who's taking care of you so i leave you with this new found fave product and til next time, this is all about you!

Skinny Jeans dosent mean Skinny on the Face

Trends Trends Trends, get use to them because they are what they state they are but Trends.

The important thing to remember is that "The proof is in the Puddin", as my mamma use to tell me. many intellectuals say that the "truth shall set you free" and well i can't back that up necessarily but say that it makes the decision makers position a little bit easier. to make the right choice all we really need is the facts and what type of consequences there are.

this brings me back to my last posting on Retinol.

Trends in the Beauty industry come and go but the staples and pillars that make it always stay true. Reflecting on what i said and being able to be a true testament on what is said, Retinol is the only FDA approved anti-aging ingredient out in the market. World famous Renova is taking charge. Renova which has been a celebrity amongst celebrities is now available to everyone. smooth faces make better canvases for make up application and better confidence overall. when i am not looking my best i know i just want to crawl away and hide til i fix the issue. well with this miracle cure it can all be easier.

Everyone i know is on a budget and showing it. fashions always reflect whats going on in the nation and the skinny jean might be that very mirror image of what its looking like for the nation and especially the great state of California. so cutting back on all these wonder potions and devices might seem relevant to you and your decision making these days with the holidays around the corner. I am here to make it simple. like Martha Stewart and her Living magazine i too have some simple alternatives to your chaos hustle and bussel for the holidays. You can wear Skinny jeans but don't let the skinny products reflect that in your face. choose one product to solve it all and give you time to what is important; You. why spend hundreds on four to five products when you can spend a fraction on one. Remember we are putting the You back in Beauty. it doesn't take an army to destroy a nation but one man. Adolf Hitler is an example. no need to be notorious on your shopping sprees and debt when it comes to beauty. keep it clear and simple and on the table. remember you now have the facts and can make the right choice for you.

Spots Be GONE

I am here to lend a Beauty hand and for you to know you are not alone.
Removing age spots is mostly performed due to aesthetic reasons than any other reason. Age spots might be unsightly but they are pretty harmless. Preventing age spots by using lots of high quality sunblock and staying away from the sun is the best way to make sure they don't appear at all. But, once they do appear, removing age spots can be done by using natural ingredients that make excellent homemade skin care products.

Age spots can be treated with freezing, acids, skin sanding, electric needle and any other methods which causes a superficial destruction of the skin. Lasers are much more precise and less damaging to the skin because light is used to selectively remove the pigment without damaging the normal surrounding skin. There is also less pain and less healing time required to recover from laser treatment than with non-laser treatments. Liver spots can be lightened with skin-bleaching products or removed by freezing with liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy). Cryotherapy (freezing) or laser treatment may be recommended to destroy the liver spots.
Age spots home remedies Tips

1.Aloe Rubbing fresh aloe vera juice or gel on the spots will help fade them. Use the gel twice a day for a month or two. Juice from the aloe plant is excellent for healing burns and is also beneficial as a general healing agent.

2.Apple cider vinegar Combine two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with one teaspoon of orange juice and apply to the spots, preferably on a cloth or cotton pad that is secured to the area.

3.Bilberry herb slows some of the aging processes and acts as an antioxidant. Take 4-8 oz. of fresh berries, 80-160 mg of bilberry extract (25% anthocyanidin), or 20-40 mg anthocyanosides daily.

4.Buttermilk Dab buttermilk on the spots. The lactic acid and other ingredients in the milk are beneficial to the skin. Buttermilk has been used for generations as a skin cleanser and as a beauty aid.

5.Castor oil Apply castor oil on the spots in the morning and in the evening, and rub well into the skin. The spots should disappear within a month.

6.Take fresh or canned chick peas (garbanzo beans), mash about 1/3 cupful and add a little water. Smear this paste on the spots and leave it there until it dries.

7.Dandelion Break open a dandelion stem and rub the sap on the spots 2-3x per day. Good for warts, too. Will Greer (Grandpa Walton) used this method successfully.

8.Using the ancient Chinese herb gotu kola. Mix 1/8 teaspoon of powdered herb into a cup of herbal tea or add it to plain hot water along with 1/8 teaspoon of ginseng and a pinch of cayenne. This remedy should clear the spots in a few days.

9. Mix one teaspoon grated horseradish root, 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon vinegar, and 3 drops rosemary essential oil. Dab onto your age spots with a cotton ball once or twice a day (less if you have sensitive skin); it will exfoliate the top layer of skin and your spot should lighten. Jeanette Jacknin, M.D. in Smart Medicine for Your Skin.

10.Some fresh lemon juice on the spots twice daily. If you are going outdoors, wait for the juice to dry as it increases the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. It may take a few months, but the acidity in the juice will cause the spots to fade away.

Save it for someone who cares

After a long period of time away from blogging, i studied the countless devices we use to excuse our person from not being able to make the right decision when it comes to smart skin care.

wether you believe you need to see a dermatologist, or your mothers cure was "use not want not", and my best "i can't see my self spending the time and money on something like that...." well then you must have the time looking tired and unyouthful when the signs of aging come on knocking at your door. Its not going to be trick or treat? either its going to be Sun damage or Wrinkles? Everyone and everthing ages at different rates and the factors vary from person to person. Genetics save you fifty percent of the time but do you really know whats your common denominator for aging? the Answer my friends is NOT preventing and protecting what you already have. we have the tools and we must use them. knowing there is a light in the room and yet you insist on strainning your eyes for a book called Twilight. soon all you will see is twilight, so turn it on. use your tools!

I have the solution and its simple. Retin-A aka Tretinoin aka Retinol. All of these listed and more are magical forms and shapes Vt. A can come in. Vitamin A is and known for maximus improvment, strengthing if not correcting when it comes to, skin scarring, visible wrinkles, enlarged pores, visibility of verticle lines and lacking of skin density.

So why are we waiting to see these awful signs of aging before we do something about it.

the power of you is stronger than anyone knows. but YOU knew that for its part of you. the beautiful you. the beauty in all of us. lets keep it and make it last til we can no further. prolong the beauty in the world internally and physicall by changing our surroundings and makeing progress not perfect.

These are some best practices for the use of Retin- A

The effect of increased skin cell turnover can be irritation and flaking. For this reason, many people stop using Retin-A after a couple of days to weeks, then think that it didn't work. It is important to realize that Retin-A is very effective for whiteheads and blackheads, but it may take 6-9 weeks to see a noticeable difference. It takes at least 6 months to see a noticeable difference in wrinkles. The best benefit is seen if Retin-A is used for at least a year.

so if you flake and complaine and stop well then save it for someone who cares because your simply not ready to commit yourself to beauty, so til next time.

Lets Talk Oxi-dants

the buzz around town is "Do Antioxidants really work?"

well its simple and logical. i believe this is a conspiracy started by people who are tired of paying for good skin and want the rest to start ageing who can afford to slow the process down. When the statue of liberty started to fade and oxidise we fixed her. when you want food to stay fresh you seal it in a container for freshness. when you want to protect expensive floors you have them waxed and sealed. when you want to protect your skin from the harsh enviornment we give it a healthy dose of antioxidants that protect it from the aggressors. If you haven't educated yourself its okay, that's why we are here together. a well balanced application of an antioxidant cream, serum or face mist can help in the long run by giving your skin that protection it deserves and craves. we start to die and age the moment we live. just like physicians instruct us on how to live a long and youthful life so should we treat our skin. the largest organ that makes our body. the Most popular and antioxidants are as follows: vitamin A, C, E, B5, K, and COQ10. all which can be found in natural ingredients and man made. anti inflammatory Alpha Lipoic Acid is revered by UCLA physicians as a major anti cancerous supplement. keep in mind ageing is internal external and mental. we must first take take whats within so we can exude the beauty through our skin. we can quickly correct topically while the supplements heal internally. Dr. Patricia Wexler who in my mind is top notch bitch! revolutionized with her discovery of MMP's and her MMPi technology to stop aggressors and allow the skin to rejuvenate itself. you can find great products at Sephora who's vast selection of Beauty brands and beauty experts who are ready to help and consult with you. my advice to have a Lil fun is to go in and receive a quick consultation they call Service express, the Skin consultation will be educational and a new experience to be able to gage where to go from here. remember take your vitamins and you wont get sick. take you antioxidants and you wont age as fast.
